You’ve heard the saying, “There is an artist in everyone.” A catchphrase although maybe true, only if one actually realizes if they have stepped so far out of their personal boundaries, free from self-judgement and into an audacious sense of discovery.
When asked what my creative process is, I could respond with preparation, incubation, illumination and verification, but I won’t. That all seems so planned. I once knew an artist that started his process with big sheets of paper strewn across a floor, some pastels, some familiar music and desire to create something. It began with scribbles and swooshes across empty pages en route to making an impression of some significance. As this process continued uninhibited, one path followed another into a work of art.
I similarly use music as influence in my creative process, with attention to the genré if a particular theme is desired. I experiment with unconstrained use of brushes and colour choices just to see what might happen. There are no mistakes, it’s just a road less travelled and I am always surprised where I end up. Every piece is a work in progress.

“You can do anything you put your mind to.” There are no mistakes, and more than one way to do things. Whether it is an oil or acrylic painting on canvas or a cream can, a rag rug from discarded material, or a one-of-a-kind custom birdhouse out of leftover wood and trinkets. These provide the medium to create. Growing up on a homestead and living near Tisdale with very little makes one resourceful. Invention is working with what you have, and the mere act of doing it is all the motivation needed to discover things you never thought possible.
